1) touch him - squeeze his shoulder, stroke his hand, nudge his side

2) take, don't fake, interest in his interests - if you know enough about basketball and he is a huge Knicks fan, text or call when they win to celebrate

3) learn enough about him that you could write his cv or profile page on Facebook

4) when you are with him, pay more attention to him than to your smart phone - twitter, but only at his jokes
